Land of the unique heritage, the central province of Thua Thien-Hue has courted a raft of strategic investors in the face of robust growth.
In recent years, the province has scored the attention of major players in the tourism industry such as Vingroup, FLC, and Van Phu Invest, providing enormous investment opportunities to the country’s central region, and laying the groundwork for the transformation of the ancient capital of Hue.
The province has been known for being the location of the largest number of internationally recognized heritages in Vietnam, including the Hue ancient monument complex, Nha Nhac royal court music, the woodblocks and royal documents of the Nguyen Dynasty, and poetry on Hue’s royal architecture.
The province also abounds with distinct natural resources, particularly the Tam Giang-Cau Hai Lagoon ecosystem and Bach Ma National Park. Leveraging these bountiful advantages, the province is experiencing breakthroughs in development while strictly observing the main principle of developing but not exchanging its natural and environmental heritage values.
Embedded in this huge cultural legacy, the province is changing on a daily basis.
By virtue of a two-day conference on central region and Central Highlands tourism development, chaired by Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc last month, a string of major events have taken place in the province. This includes the commencement of the Kien Trung Temple restoration project worth more than VND123 billion ($5.3 million); Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung visiting the project on relocating residents from Thuong Thanh heritage area with total budget of VND2.7 trillion ($117 million); and the signing by the provincial authorities of four major projects with value surpassing VND13 trillion ($565 million), taking the lead in the region in signed committed investment capital volume.
With a track record as the food capital of the country with more than 1,000 dishes earmarked for mandarins in the past, Thua Thien-Hue is promoting “Hue – The capital of Vietnamese cuisine” this year. Through the royal special cuisine of nearly 150 years under the Nguyen Dynasty, the province has chosen to go the traditional way in promoting local tourism. The recent signing ceremony of the co-operative agreement between Dai Nam–Thai Y Vien JSC and Thua Thien-Hue Department of Tourism to develop the food promotion project to 2025, with a vision towards 2030, is a testament to the province’s commitment to improving the image of local tourism.
At the conference, PM Phuc showed a keen interest in the products displayed at the booth of Thua Thien-Hue, which featured beautiful and modern designs, drawing special heed from the guests attending the conference. Through the event, the province has helped to boost exposure of distinctive local tourism products to both the domestic and international community.
PM Phuc paid special attention to high-end tourism products and encouraged businesses to continue research and development, as well as attract further investment to the province.
All the factors indicate the growing charm of Thua Thien-Hue in the eyes of potential investors.
