Hanoi issues action plan for CPTPP

Hanoi People’s Committee has recently issued a plan to take advantage of opportunities arising from the Comprehensive and Progressive Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP).

A view of Hanoi. The capital city has issued a plan to take advantage of the Comprehensive and Progressive Trans-Pacific Partnership

The focus would be placed on enhancing the awareness and understanding of officials, companies, and citizens about Vietnam’s commitments in the CPTPP, especially in investment, services, trade defense, intellectual property, labor and environment, as well as what needs to be done to take opportunities from the trade deals.

The capital city would also focus on enhancing the competitiveness of major industries and small- and medium-sized enterprises through policies and programmes about support in capital, training, market information access, and technology application, together with developing talents.

The city said that it was necessary to promote links between the foreign direct investment sector and domestic firms to build value chains and speed up the capital city’s economic restructuring towards technology and environmentally-friendly production.

The city would also prepare for possible job losses in case firms could not survive the harsh competition, providing job transition training and job consultancy services.

Early this month, the Ministry of Industry and Trade issued a plan for implementing the CPTPP.

Citizen and enterprises could access http://cptpp.moit.gov.vn/ recently launched by the ministry to learn more about the trade deal.
